SkiFlow (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the SkiFlow mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the App.
When you opt in to location sharing, the App collects your device’s GPS coordinates while you are actively using the App at a ski resort. This data is:
You can pause or stop location sharing at any time from Settings, without losing access to the App.
The App creates an anonymous user ID (Firebase Anonymous Authentication) on first launch. This ID is a randomly-generated string that allows your device to write location data and lift wait time reports to our backend. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any personal information.
The App includes Google AdMob to serve ads. AdMob collects your Android Advertising ID (AAID) — a resettable identifier provided by your Android device specifically for advertising purposes. AdMob uses this ID to:
You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ads personalization at any time: Android Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID / Opt out of Ads Personalization.
Information collected by AdMob is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not send AdMob your location, your Firebase anonymous ID, or any other information beyond what the AdMob SDK collects by default.
When you report a lift wait time, we store the report (lift ID, estimated wait minutes, timestamp, anonymous user ID) for up to 20 minutes so it can be averaged with other recent reports. Reports expire automatically.
We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous crash logs and performance diagnostics. No personal information is included in these reports.
We may collect non-identifying device information such as device model, Android OS version, App version, and language settings for compatibility and debugging.
Collected information is used to:
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your individual location data with other users, advertisers, data brokers, or any third party.
We use the following service providers:
We use Firebase Realtime Database, Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Functions, and Crashlytics. Firebase processes the following on our behalf: anonymous user ID, aggregate location grid cells, lift wait reports, crash logs. Google’s privacy policy.
We use Google AdMob to display ads within the App. AdMob is provided by Google LLC. AdMob collects your advertising ID, device type, approximate IP-based location (country/region), and basic ad-interaction data (impressions, clicks) to serve and measure ads.
We have configured AdMob as follows:
We use Google Maps to display map tiles and the ski resort overlay. Map usage is subject to Google’s Maps terms.
We may disclose information if legally required by subpoena, court order, or similar legal process, or to protect our rights or user safety.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you will be shown a consent form on first launch (via Google’s User Messaging Platform) asking whether you want personalized ads, non-personalized ads, or to withdraw consent. You can change your choice at any time from Settings → Ads Consent.
You can:
California residents have the right to know, delete, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. Under California law, the use of advertising identifiers for cross-context behavioral advertising may be considered “sharing.”
To opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising:
EU and UK residents have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our legal basis for processing is your consent (location sharing, personalized ads) and our legitimate interest (App functionality and security).
Email the address listed at the bottom of this page to exercise these rights. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
SkiFlow is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Our ad configuration includes setTagForChildDirectedTreatment(FALSE) because we do not direct the App at children, but we also prevent targeting users we know to be under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the App, contact us at the email below.
Your data may be processed on servers located in the United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, you consent to the transfer of data to the United States.
We use TLS encryption in transit, Firebase Authentication for access control, and strict Firebase security rules that prevent users from reading each other’s raw location data. No system is perfectly secure, but we minimize risk by retaining raw location data for less than 30 seconds.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the App and via the “Last Updated” date above. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
